Antenna Control Unit (ACU) (Monopulse GEO ‐ LEO)
AC 1101 MPL GEO-LEO
ACU (AC 1101 MPL GEO-LEO) has been designed to command the movement of Transportable Earth Station antennas on three axes. Easy to use and with high level automation, the system can be used by both expert and non‐expert operators. The device has been designed to be used on ground station systems. The control allows direct command of antenna movement along 3 axes, by absolute optical encoders. Main operating modes are: manual (jog), preset, Steptrack, Memory Track, Program Track (TLE), Predefined Data, Tracking Monopulse, by “open‐loop control” mode or “PID closed‐loop control” mode. Memory track mode makes use of a satellite pointing positions table recorded during an entire step tracking operation period; when the table is ready and consistent memory tracking can be triggered following the path given by the position in the table, thus minimizing the need of axes movements during step tracking operations, which, in turns reduces wears of components in the motorization systems and increases the life time of the antenna system.
Along with the web HMI the Antenna Control Unit is provided with a complete remote control interface based on SNMP, which allows easy integration of the ACU with customer M&C platforms. The ACU is interfaced with the beacon receiver, which is controlled through the ACU web HMI.

Functions:
Functions
• Steptrack maximization of the beacon signal coming from specific receiver, with gain and offset adjustment.
• Memory Track, after 24 hours of acquisition of the satellite position (1 point per minute): in case of reduction of the tracking signal level below a configurable threshold, automatic switching to Memory Track mode occurs.
• Program Track (azimuth and elevation only) antenna position in Azimuth and Elevation, according to the angular values calculated by TLE (Two Line Element) with configurable update steps from 1 to 60 seconds.
• Predefined pointing coordinates received by an external PC (DO Mode).
• Monopulse tracking (only azimuth and elevation), positioning of the antenna according to the errors received by the monopulse tracking receiver. In case of tracking signal loss the ACU automatically reverts in DO mode and back once the tracking signal comes back available.
Interfaces Description:
• N°10‐10V analogue input with Gain and Offset adjustment, for beacon receiver signal level.
• N ° 2 Analog input +/‐ 10 VDC tracking error, for azimuth and elevation,
• N ° 3 SSI Absolute Encoder Inputs, Binary, 5V or 12V power supply,
• N ° 1 RS232 input for GPS
• N ° 1 Input Clinometer
• N ° 1 Input Anemometer
• N ° 1 RJ45 Ethernet interface for the following applications:
• MDU control via ModBUS TCP protocol, average update time of the movement command 10 mS, during the Monopulse Tracking mode.
• ACU remote control via SNMP protocol. One polling per second is allowed for the general status request. The ACU will send a trap, to the host computer, with content in binary format for immediate reporting of critical events.
• FW update via microSD card (copy of the newFW on the SD and insertion of the same in the appropriate slot before switching on the device).
• RF Switch control.
• NTP Server interface.
